A truly superb LP, this is a Scottish par for the Planxty black album, as to quality of musicianship and variety of styles of tune. An album that taught me that bagpipes too may be played melodically and as a lead instrument just as their Irish cousin pipes (Uilleann), this is a by turns fiery (Laird o'Cockpen, Deil's awa' wi' the'exciseman) and placid (Gloomy winter's noo awa', Bonnie was...) and merry (the jigs) album. Beautiful.
