Poppy Seeds, released in 1971, was the second and final studio album from Vancouver, British Columbia band The Poppy Family. The album has yet to be released on modern formats and remains a rare vinyl. Singles released from the album were Where Evil Grows, I Was Wondering, No Good to Cry previously a minor 1966 hit by The Wildweeds, Good Friends, and I'll See You There. Where Evil Grows was the album's biggest hit, reaching 6 in Canada and 45 in the United States. Poppy Seeds from the Poppy Family is an album of lightweight pop music from happier times, and has its moments. Of the 12 tunes here, half are written by Terry Jacks, and though the outside material consists of outstanding choices, this album's best moments are when Susan Jacks interprets husbandproducer Terry's compositions. I'll See You There is interesting pop, somewhat innovative for the day, and if the group hadn't been known for the 1970 hit which was borderline bubblegum, I'll See You There would've been a candidate for FM airplay. The Poppy Family was a Canadian psychedelic pop group, based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They had a number of international hit records in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Seventeen-year-old Susan Pesklevits met Terry Jacks in the mid-1960s when he appeared as a guest on the national teen TV show Music Hop where she was a regular performer. She later called Jacks to accompany her on rhythm guitar for one of her live appearances. Eventually, although she continued to do solo shows on television.
