Mr.jeka
Unfortunately I seem to have been one of the unlucky few who received a noisy copy with an edge warp. The mastering sounds fantastic, just wish my pressing quality matched it.
CopamHuk
Yes, this pressing lives up to all the praise. It's outstanding quiet, and thanks for that. This recording demands 100% noise free playback. Vinyl can be done right. A masterpiece in every way.

My favorite music these days are the ones that I missed when they were initially released. Talk Talk is such a band that I ignored for decades, even though I did see them at the Reseda Country Club in the early 1980s when their first big hit "Talk Talk" (not to be confused with the band's name) hit the KROQ airwaves. They had no lasting impression on me whatsoever. Still, as the years go on, people have told me that this band is excellent. "Spirit of Eden" is a unique album and a perfect one at that. It's natural to compare something you haven't heard, with other artists. Listening to "Spirit of Eden," it reminds me a bit of early David Sylvian, with a touch of classic "John Barleycorn Must Die" Traffic, and then a presence of Miles Davis "Silent Way." Of course, that is just the entrance to the world of Talk Talk. For a band that started with a very 80s production style, ends with all acoustic or un-machine-like instrumentation, such as Double Bass (the great Danny Thompson), Guitarrón, Oboe, violin (Nigel Kennedy), and various horns. Mark Hollis is the figurehead and is very much in the style of a minimalist, who makes maximum music. One never knows what's around the corner, because something unusual and adventuresome comes out of nowhere. In that sense, there is the late Scott Walker approach to arrangements. The sound is dense, murky, and then almost silence. For, however, many minutes this album is, it doesn't allow the listener to remove themselves from the speakers. "Inheritance" has a classical oboe and strings interlude that comes in like a wave hitting the beach. There are sonic surprises that are borderline ambient, but the mixing is brilliant. Not an album to categorize but to accept on its worth by the superb sounds and touches of melody that is haunting. The silence is just as important as the instrumentation. It should be its instrumental credit: silence — a beautiful piece of delicate work.

Probably your best option for a vinyl copy after the UK original which is too expensive and hard to find in mint condition. This sounds very well realized in an atmospheric, yet in the room sound. Its full sounding with great bass and treble, the mid range vocals are also clear still.Drums and strings too have great texture and resolution to them that feels analog even though this is surely digitally remastered. My copy also came clean and mostly flat. After an RCM cleaning it plays with no surface noise and barely the slightest ticks only, which may just be from small static discharges.Equipment Used:Rega RP1 with Paratrace tipped Nagaoka MP-200 CartridgeCyrus 2 AmplifierSystem Fidelity SF-3050 Tower SpeakersCustom made HQ Speaker Cables

This copy sounds good. Flat vinyl with just a few clicks n pops. Well re-mastering in total. ✌️

Beautiful, clean very quiet edition. Great remaster. Just bought it sealed.

Must be unlucky with the pressing I got bc it's very noisy. Loads of pops and tics. I've got both Colour of Spring and It's my life, and they are both excellent. So bit surprised to find this pressing to be the opposite. Brilliant Album though.
Fek
Same. I tweeted to Parlophone to complain about how terrible the noise is on my copy. It's especially unfortunate because now I just get depressed when I even think about playing this album. And it wasn't cheap, either. I should just throw it out.

Can't praise Parlophone enough on this one. Once again they did a tremendous job. Like 2014's "Colour of Spring", this reissue also has immaculate sound quality, simply stunning. Expansive, full, dynamic sound with excellent clarity and separation; all audiophile adjectives you can enumerate aren't sufficient to rate the quality of this pressing. Absolute silent with no pops, clicks, etc, which is a must for this delicate record. Trust me, a real treat to your ears. Even the CD goes directly into my top 10 sound wise, plus you have the song John Cope as a nice bonus. Can't compare with the original pressing but I doubt it can outmatch this one. Buy with 100% confidence.system: Rega P8 + Dynavector XX-2 cartridge; Plinius; Sonus Faber Concerto

This is a superb release. Very high quality audio and on the "right" system... spellbinding.
Dog_Uoll
I finally found this at a local shop for $31, this was one of my most hunted records as it is one of my absolute favorites. This was fine up until Wealth, really noisy and crackly...Not only that, Side B ends on a locked noisy grove. WTF?![sigh]

Can please someone tell me, if you know: is the quality of audio recording on vinyl and dvd the same (I mean, original source)? Because it said that audio on dvd is described as 96khz/24bit Hi-res, but in reality it is a kind of "up-convert". And I'm afraid that there is the same "up-convert" on vinyl. Thanks!

The digital element cannot be avoided as it was used at some point in the process, so while the masters may or may not be analogue, a digital deck was used in the process of making the album. It's impossible to have an all analogue cut of the record.

A great pressing. A treat to get the DVD as well. AND John Cope to boot. Brilliant release.
just one girl
Yes! Finally a silent vinyl all the way. This is the reissue you want to have.
DrayLOVE
My copy has the same issue as the Ba Da Bing pressing of "Laughing Stock." Tons of crackling. Both were purchased new. Neither were cheap upon purchase. Now, they seem to be reasonable. I have lost all faith in reissues and pressing plants.
Bliss
Hey man I'm sorry to hear that. Are you sure that this is the exact release you are reviewing? Because everybody are saying that it is great. I have bought mine relying on all the comments here and I'm happy with my purchase.
OwerSpeed
This reissue is a absolutely great one! Superb sounding pressing with full soundstage and well balanced tonality. Compared to the the first press no difference. Imho we have here more pressure in sound.
Burgas
Just got this album a few days ago. Immediately on removing the shrink wrap, noticed that the front artwork looks faded compared to the images I have seen online. Is this intentional? The music is perfect though.
Gozragore
One of the best engineered albums ever recorded. Great release.
Геракл
Just bought this record and I think the guy that was responsible for the sticker on the record was a bit drunk because it's printed on the record itself rather then in the middle
Shou
Can you please tell a little more about the quality of this pressing?
GoodLike
This pressing sounds pretty wonderful; a bit noisy when really cranked up, but nothing too bad. I'm having a hard time getting to Side B because the opening trilogy of songs/20-minute behemoth is easily one of the most amazing things ever put to wax.
Fordregelv
Surely worth making the leap over to the B-side to experience the wonder that is I Believe In You!
Throw her heart
Great release!
