Skunk Black
They had this at their merch stand at the Roadburn festival. For 50 euro's. It's ridiculous. There is nothing different about this release except the colour. So I passed. Will pick up an LP copy when I see one for a normal price.
Jieylau
Had it for 30€ at Desertfest Antwerpen merch stand last month
Anazan
Tour edition of The Sciences - limited to 205 and only available at their live shows on tour.Statistics shows users that Have: 213What is going on here?
Kulwes
this is not true in the slightest - I can confirm from firsthand info from the band and label that this is an ongoing pressing to be made available on tour for an undetermined length of time, in an undetermined amount. There are many available.
Captain America
yeah, I bought a copy last night at a show.... seemed to have PLENTY... where did that where did that "limited to 205" come from???
Kazracage
This shit is massively expensive at the merch table, but it's not everyday you get to see Sleep so...... yeah I'm broke now.
Contancia
Does anyone know how many were pressed of this edition???
Teonyo
Dude, I was at the show in Bologna, Italy last night and they were still selling copies...€45 each...they had boxes full of them, so obviously it's not limited to 205 copies as someone was mentioning earlier; they've been selling them at shows for I guess about a year now so I'm assuming they've probably sold at leat one thousand. I am a sucker for a good vinyl but somehow I passed on this one...it had cash in written all over it.
Cemav
Open edition. Only available at Sleep shows ($50 USD). Third Man was just pressing more of these yesterday per their IG.
Paxondano
I love this album and Sleep is one of my favorite bands, but why on earth would they charge $60 for a tour variant of an album? Art isn't different, no bonus track or anything. Just a different colored record is what makes this $30-$40 more. How can this be justified? Hopefully this is Jack / Third Man being greedy rather than the band, because that would be disappointing.
Rrd
Trust me, Sleep has received a lot of my money over the years, and l will happily give them more as the years come. However, I just don't like paying double price for albums just because the wax is a different color. Doesn't make sense to me.
Road.to sliver
Of course the money is going to the band. Why would you whine about funding a sick band and getting a unique pressing that's only sold at the show? I gladly gave them my $50.
Brialelis
Yasss!! I don't know if this or the black/green split should be my play copy. I should probably get a green one to...
Oppebro
Play them all, records are people too you know. They need love and attention :)
Gogal
My copy (black vinyl) is great but the mix is too bassy for my taste, would like more guitars and less bass. The music is beautiful anyways.
Adorardana
My copy doesn't sound so good, quiet and a lot of surface noise. If you're a fan of quality audio I would not recommend
Anayajurus
The words on the runouts are as follows when translated from Morse Code to words:purple kush/skywalker/OG/cat/pissromulansuper/lemon/haze
Tyler Is Not Here
The Black/Green split limited edition and standard black LP sound identical. Both are well pressed with minimal surface noise and nice sonics. Lots of low-end rumble and clarity in the high-end. I've seen some poor reviews of this pressing but I can verify that the vastly more expensive limited edition does, at the very least, sound no better than this black edition. I'm personally happy with how both pressings sound and I'd say this standard edition is well worth picking up.
Cel
Have to say, my green Euro copy sounds like shit. Tinny symbols and bass just isn't there. Pretty crap, but I am using expensive transparent equipment. Black must be laughing...I've got 50+ year old lp's that sound better than this turd. Just listened to my first press of Circus Leaves Town, makes this record sound like a joke in terms of bass and production.
Chilele
This record was sold out of all my local shops. Good for Sleep! Audio quality is average, was expecting a little more dynamic/warm sound. A little noisy in the quietest parts (The Sciences). Packaging good. Definitely still worth picking up because this is a killer album.
Burking
Pressing for European market has by now been postponed 4 times:Originally planned release date: 5/18 -> postponed to 5/25 -> postponed to 6/22 -> postponed to 6/29 -> postponed to 7/27
Jelar
I received my (green) first pressing from Banquet Records, England, on 8th June. They had a limited supply but I was lucky enough to snag one. There are copies of the first pressings floating around in Europe, for sure.
Zieryn
amazon.uk release date 22/06 , and they started packing my order.
Chuynopana
Not a great pressing. Not a lot of surface noise, but that's about the only redeeming quality. Sounds fairly lifeless overall. I can't imagine any special attention was given to the mastering or cutting of the vinyl here. Better than the stuff TMR was getting from United, but still disappointing--especially for $30.
Vishura
This record only has 3 NEW songs on it...the other 2 are 20 years old,w/sonic titan having been previously released as a live bonus track...the title track is a throw-away noise/intro thing that goes nowhere.the art is pretty horrible for both versions(but the arik roper rip-off is more tolerable if you have $250 to pay a flipper)my copy came straight from third man w/a defective jacket...my advice?just buy the CD.
Molace
It's a great record, recording quality is excellent and manages to almost capture the textural nuances of their live shows. Glad to have it on vinyl, even if the songs are "old". The band's recorded output benefits greatly from their decades of experience touring and advancements in technology. The art is fine, too. Happy to have it on vinyl. If you're going to rip on the album, the least you could do is discuss the quality of the recording or songwriting, beyond just saying that the songs are "old" and the title track is a "throwaway".
Cyregaehus
Picked up a copy of this today and got it signed by Al Cisneros who was in Austin for a show with Om. Such a great pressing.
Uris
There are black copies available again for $30 on Third Man's website.
