Abraxas is the second studio album by Latin rock band Santana. It was released on September 23, 1970 by Columbia Records and became the band's first album to reach number one in the United States. The title of the album originates from a line in Hermann Hesse's book Demian, quoted on the album's back cover: We stood before it and began to freeze inside from the exertion. We questioned the painting, berated it, made love to it, prayed to it: We called it mother, called it whore and slut, called it our. Santana is the third studio album by the American rock band Santana. The band's second self-titled album, it is often referred to as III or Santana III to distinguish it from the band's 1969 debut album. The album was also known as Man with an Outstretched Hand, after its album cover image. It was the third and until the group's 2016 reunion, the last album by the Woodstock-era lineup, and it was also considered by many to be the band's peak commercially and musically, as subsequent releases aimed. Still with the same latin rhythms but some how harder and heavier than Abraxas. Five stars because the original album is fantastic, but as usual listen to the bonus tracks at the risk of disappointment.
