Info

Monoculture is the debut studio album by American indie rock band Sainthood Reps. It was produced by Mike Sapone and released on August 9, 2011, by Tooth & Nail Records. In 2010, following the release of a split EP with O'Brother, Sainthood Reps received an e-mail from Tooth & Nail Records expressing interest in signing them, convincing them to put on hold plans for a double EP four songs from which ended up on the album. After receiving more songs from the band, however, the label expressed concern. Music video by Sainthood Reps performing Monoculture Official Music Video. P C 2012 Tooth & Nail Records. For a self-professed post-hardcore band, Sainthood Reps are poppier than most, as capable of filling a song with slow, spacy guitar arpeggios as fast n furious riffs. On Monoculture, the band makes its debut with a collection of songs that breathe, echo, and bounce off the studio walls, creating a sound that has its roots in hard rock and its head in the ether. Sadly Sainthood Reps didnt last much longer than their contemporaries, as late last year we saw the inevitable split after releasing but a single album with the dying record label. Despite tours with bands such as Brand New, mewithoutYou, La Dispute, Balance & Composure and OBrother, Sainthood Reps has not really garnered the attention they deserve. It is fairly obvious where Sainthood Reps find their influences Nearly every song could fit into a Nirvana or even a later day Brand New record without much turbulence. An interesting fact: Guitarist Derrick Sherman was a touring member of Brand New for quite some time. Sainthood Reps. Released 2011. Monoculture Tracklist. Monoculture Lyrics. DINGUS Lyrics. Sainthood Reps' debut album Monoculture is a work influenced by early 90's post-hardcore and contemporary post-rock as well as other artistic avenues, with much of the lyrical content derived from historical perspective gathered via films and books rather than personal experience. Recorded in their native Long Island with producer Mike Sapone Brand New, Crime in Stereo, The Xcerts, the album achieves a balance between jagged, uneasy, sometimes harsh distortion and fuzz and a sound that feels equally ethereal, reflective and progressive.
