Paradise Lost is an opera in two acts with music by Krzysztof Penderecki and an English libretto by Christopher Fry. The opera is based on the epic poem of the same name by Milton. Penderecki himself characterized the work as a Sacra Rappresentazione sacred representation rather than an opera. He wrote the opera on commission for the 1976 US Bicentennial celebrations. The first performance was given on 29 November 1978, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The same production was given at La Scala, Milan. Lost Paradise is the debut album of the heavy metal band Paradise Lost. Released in February 1990 by Peaceville Records, it features their early deathdoom style. The album was re-issued in 2003 and included three bonus tracks. The tracks Our Saviour and Frozen Illusion were rerecorded in other Paradise Lost albums Tragic Illusion 25 and Medusa. Paradise Lost is an epic poem in blank verse by the 17th-century English poet John Milton 16081674. The first version, published in 1667, consists of ten books with over ten thousand lines of verse.
