Obina Shok was a successful but short-lived Brazilian pop and reggae band from the capital Brasilia Active period: 1985-1988 Three of its members were non-Brazilians, related to the local diplomatic community: Jean-Pierre Senghor, from Senegal and grandson of late president Leopold Senghor Roger Kedyh, from Gabon and Winston Lackin, from Surinam - the other members were Brazilian. Their first album, eponymously titled Obina Shok, was released on RCA Victor in 1986. It was very well received by critics and became a great success.
