HughesThrall is the self-titled, debut album by musical collaborators Glenn Hughes Deep Purple Trapeze Black Sabbath and Pat Thrall Pat Travers, Asia Meat Loaf. It was released in 1982 on Boulevard Records and is, to date, their only album. After the break-up of Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes had not been prolific in his output. By 1981 he had only produced one solo album 1977's Play Me Out, an album focused on Hughes love for soul and funk. By comparison, guitarist Pat Thrall had worked on. Hughes Thrall was a musical project formed in 1982 by former Deep Purple and Trapeze bassistvocalist Glenn Hughes and guitarist Pat Thrall. Play Me Out had. The fruit of a one-off collaboration between ex-Deep Purple bassistsinger Glenn Hughes and journeyman guitarist Pat Thrall, HughesThrall is full of the energy of early-'80s rock. With lyrics like You got the powerTurn on the light sung in best Ian Gillan fashion and buoyed by relentless grooves and Thrall's virtuosic guitar, this album is an overlooked gem. Thrall's use of the guitar synthesizer is very interesting. Throughout the album, he combines the muscle of hard rock with the textures of post-punk and new wave, as if Andy Summers were sitting around jamming. Album 1982 9 Songs. Rock 1982. There's really powerful and crisp layered guitar lines throughout, thanks to Thrall, and they really bring out the vocal melodies. Hughes sometimes overdoes his vocals see: 'First Step Of Love' - an ill-advised Cannock accent in here too - and 'Hold Out Your Life' but it sounds like he's actually having fun This album has the best version of 'Coast To Coast', and the vocals are emotional and just spot-on. After a rut of about 6 years after 'Play Me Out', he both needed and deserved it. HughesThrall was a one-off project consisting of vocalistbassist Glenn Hughes and guitarist Pat Thrall which spawned a single, self-titled album released in 1982, combining melodic hard rock and a unique use of guitar sythesizers along with Hughes' powerful vocal style.
