He may be a largely forgotten figure in the 21st century, but singer and songwriter Graham Parker was one of the most startlingly original, energetic, creative, and provocative figures to have ever graced a British stage in the 1970s. This collection selects from his ill-fated - but musically brilliant - Mercury period a tenure he later documented in the song Mercury Poisoning and his debut Arista offering. Текст песни: Did they tear it out, with talons of steel And give you a shot, so that you wouldnt feel And wash it away, as if it wasnt real Its just a mistake, I wont have to Can't Be Too Strong - Graham Parker, The Rumour. You Can't Be Too Strong is a song by British rock musician Graham Parker, recorded with his backing band the Rumour. The song was released on his 1979 album, Squeezing Out Sparks. Written about abortion, the song originated as a country-style shuffle before Parker and producer Jack Nitzsche changed it to a slower acoustic ballad. Though not released as a single, the song has since become one of Parker's most famous songs. The song has seen critical acclaim and has appeared on compilation and live. Graham Parker and the Rumour led by British rock musician Graham Parker, with Brinsley Schwarz and Martin Belmont on guitars, Bob Andrews on keyboards, Andrew Bodnar on bass and Steve Goulding on drums formed in the summer of 1975 in London, England, and began doing the rounds of the British pub rock scene. The band was also augmented at times by a four-man horn section known as The Rumour Brass: John Irish Earle sax, Chris Gower trombone, Dick Hanson trumpet, and Ray Bevis sax. Learn more. For those that don't know his material, this is mainly taken from his first few albums when Graham Parker and The Rumour were one of Britain's best white R&B bands, back when R&B really meant rhythm and blues Classic tracks like White Honey and Heat Treatment are typical of Parker's mix of rock and brass which had us dancing in pubs and halls at the time
