Info

Manhattan Tower was a composition written by Gordon Jenkins in the 1940s and first issued to the public in 1946 as a two-disc 78-rpm set on the Decca label, DA-438. It was considered quite innovative for its time and was quite warmly received by critics and the public alike. Jenkins also performed the suite in its entirety on the very time-conscious Toast of the Town, hosted by Ed Sullivan, on February 26, 1950. An expanded 90-minute live musical dramatization. Формируйте собственную коллекция коллекцию записей Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra And Chorus. Gordon Jenkins' Manhattan Tower is a musical milestone in several respects. It is a unique blend of elements, part pop orchestral, almost classical suite, and part radio-styled narrative, part musical, and part operetta. It began life in 1946 as a four-part suite on a 78 rpm set of Decca Records, featuring a small cast headed by actor Elliott Lewis. With the project moving from the 78 album set format into the LP arena, Jenkins was able to more than double its content, though it is more different from than better in regard to the 1946 version. It would seem that this 10" album set is a 1949 reissue of the 1946 12" album set DA-438? Does this mean it was dubbed to fit somehow on a 10" record?
