Uncle Meat is the fifth studio album by the Mothers of Invention, released as a double album in 1969. Uncle Meat was originally developed as a part of No Commercial Potential, a project which spawned three other albums sharing a conceptual connection: We're Only in It for the Money, Lumpy Gravy and Cruising with Ruben & the Jets. The album also served as a soundtrack album to a proposed science fiction film which would not be completed, though a direct-to-video film containing test footage from the. Zappa states on this release: The words to the songs on this album were scientifically prepared from a random series of syllables, dreams, neuroses & private jokes that nobody except members of the band ever laugh at, and other irrelevant material. Just three years into their recording career, the Mothers of Invention released their second double album, Uncle Meat, which began life as the largely instrumental soundtrack to an unfinished film. It's essentially a transitional work, but it's a fascinating one, showcasing Frank Zappa's ever-increasing compositional dexterity and the Mothers' emerging instrumental prowess. Zappa would release Weasel Ripped My Flesh and Burnt Weeny Sandwich after the band was disbanded. Jimmy Carl Black talks to Zappa about why The Mothers of Invention donīt make money than they do, and when he gets to the part where he says: Weīre starving man, This ing band is starving, you can really hear the desperation in his voice. This is a good example of how many rock musicians live. On the brink of economic collapse. Текст песни: FZ: Hello Welcome to Carnegie Hall, ladies and gentlemen. It was released through BizarreReprise on April 21, 1969 as a double album. It was meant to be the soundtrack to a film, that was sadly never finished. The album was recorded from October 1967 to February 1968, the exceptions being the CD bonus tracks. Made up of both live and studio material, Uncle Meat has been praised by critics for the diversity of its compositions, the virtuosity of its performances, and its innovations in audio effects. Uncle Meat was the second two-album set from the Mothers, and very different from the first. The first, Freak Out, was also the group's debut effort. The two disks broke out very neatly the first was a collection of songs structured along traditional lines featuring decidedly non-traditional themes and lyrics. The second, which got very little airplay, was much more experimental, foreshadowing inspired lunacy to come. As with all music by Zappa and Mothers Of Invention, you simply have to embrace in its totality - mad as a March hare, brilliant, and absolutely unique. Read more. 10 people found this helpful.
