Fleet Foxes (LP):
Recorded at our homes, our friends' homes, our parents' homes, at London Bridge Studio, and at Avast Studio in Seattle, Washington, through the Summer and Fall of 2007. Phil Ek produced, engineered, and mixed, except when we were flailing around at home, recording ourselves poorly for him to clean up later. This happened often. [...] Mastered, at RFI in Seattle.

Sun Giant (EP):
We all played many an instrument. An itemized and individualized list would be egotistical and tiresome.
It was mostly recorded in early January of 2008 at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington. We did additional recording at both our house and at Stuart Hollerman's Avast! Studio, where the EP was also mixed. The handsome Philip M. Ek was the producer, engineer, and mixer. All hate mail may be directed to him. Except mastering hate mail, which can be sent to Ed Brooks at RFI in Seattle, WA.

On elegant pastoral jams like Tiger Mountain Peasant Song 22-year-old Robin Pecknold used CSNY-style timbres to build a clapboard-church choir of sound that seemed to exist in its own world. They acted as my gateway drug to all that is folk. The band came to prominence in 2008 with the release of its second EP, Sun Giant, and its first, self-titled album Fleet Foxes. Fleet Foxes ends with Oliver James, another nearly a cappella showcase for Pecknold's solo vocals. Favorite track: He Doesn't Know Why. Producer and Pecknold family friend Phil Ek had earlier helped Fleet Foxes record their first demo and used his influence to assist in shopping it to record labels. The fact that bands like Grizzly Bear and the Dirty Projectors subsequently pushed intricate, multipart vocals to the forefront may be a coincidence. The album debuted at number eleven on the UK Albums Chart, where it eventually peaked at number three, and garnered wide praise from critics, many of whom named it one of the best albums of 2008. 11 tracks 39:18. Sounds greate, looks great. Fantastic pressing and worth every penny.i was a little sceptical of the transparent dark green vinyl but I think it works well.

did anyone compare the pressing "nonesuch and bella"???. According to the critics, I feel that it is the same thing. A very good sound with however light static pops, especially in quiet moments without instruments. finally acceptable and good but not perfect.
Broadraven
For my copy buy on amazon France in December, i have some rare static pop but no noise on the vinyl..not perfect but correct.

criminologue did anyone compare the pressing "nonesuch and bella"???. According to the critics, I feel that it is the same thing. A very good sound with however light static pops, especially in quiet moments without instruments. finally acceptable and good but not perfect. Its the same pressing Im quite sure, the copyright is just different and this would be the earlier version. Theoretically since this is before the Nonesuch it should sound better, but that much be such a small difference you could never hear it.

As many of you know colored vinyl is not regarded as the best, sound wise. And before Im corrected here in saying that Black also is not the original color for vinyl and that clear is, Im mostly talking about the fact that its a "green" clear vinyl. But honestly I dont think it would be any better without the coloring. So dont let that put you off. Great sounding and looking album. Really no negatives to speak of. Side note: If anyone is looking to buy this green release you should ask your seller if they can confirm the color. As far as I know there is no way to differentiate the green release from the original if its still sealed in shrinkwrap, since they share the same bar code.Update: My deadwax does not mention Golden at all like in the original and it makes me wonder if its the same mastering. Listening with my new cart its very open and quite big in the sound, which if I had to go by my other Golden mastered albums its definitely very much like them. There is not a lot of bottom end however and Im curious if the first press has more of it. Judging by Jwages review on its Discogs page it sounds very much like I experience mine though. With more experienced ears I also notice its slightly edgy and perhaps sibilant at the highest frequencies. It might just be my Nag which cant properly follow the tight cut which sounds like a DMM if I had to guess, with slightly trickier frequency grooves but worse dynamics.Another thing which should be mentioned is the GZ runouts which I now notice, and realize that the record gives off a crackly sound on most tracks even on a new copy. The surface noise is surprisingly minimal though. Some cleaning will be done and then tested to see if it helps. In the end Id recommend you to stick with an original if for anything the generally better pressing plant RTI and reassurance that its mastered by Golden. The green vinyl looks hideous anyway ;^) One star off.Equipment used:Rega RP1 with Rega Carbon cartridgeCyrus 2 AmplifierSystem Fidelity SF-3050 tower speakersCustom made HQ speaker cablesUpdated equipment: Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge
