Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton was Eric Clapton's first fully realized album as a blues guitarist - more than that, it was a seminal blues album of the 1960s, perhaps the best British blues album ever cut, and the best LP ever recorded by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Standing midway between Clapton's stint with the Yardbirds and the formation of Cream, this album featured the new guitar hero on a series of stripped-down blues standards, Mayall pieces, and one MayallClapton composition, all of which had him stretching out in the idiom for the first time in the studio. Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, also known as The Beano Album, is the debut studio album by the English blues rock band John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, released in 1966 by Decca. Produced by Mike Vernon, the album was successful in pioneering blues rock. After the release of their live album, John Mayall Plays John Mayall, they hired Eric Clapton as the band's lead guitar player, who left the band after this recording to form Cream. The recording session for this album started in March 1966 in. Mayall's vocals are great here and are of a quality as to place him in the upper echelon of blues vocalists. Two discs of music provides us with a truly strong version of the blues, one of which presents the blues in a superior version of that style. Besides Clapton the stars include Alan Skidmore on tenor sax and John Almond playing baritone sax, both outstanding. This album, which is the first Bluesbreakers album, is Killer, With Clapton playing at his finest, and at a young 21 yrs old. And all before Cream, Blind Faith, and Derek and the Dominos The songs and playing are fantastic by the whole band. John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton Álbum Original - Full Album 01. Amongst their recorded Blues were Howlin Wolfs Smokestack Lightning, Eddie Boyds Five Long Years and Elmore James The Sun is Shining. Playing bass with Mayall was John McVie, and by the time Clapton rejoined the band, having hitch-hiked to Greece during the summer, in October 1965 Hughie Flint was filling the drum stool. Mayalls blues group was not well known prior to the album, but guitarist Eric Clapton early accepted their offer to join the group, having recently left the Yardbirds just after the release of their first hit single, frustrated that the band was moving away from their blues origins. Clapton would leave after this album to form Cream with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. Two years later, bassist John McVie would also leave the group to form Fleetwood Mac, which would go on to be one of the top rock bands of the 1970s
