Ives, Ruggles, Piston: Orchestral Music - Boston Symphony Orchestra, Michael Tilson Thomas. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Ives: Symphony No. 4 Central Park in the Dark Three Places in New England - Boston Symphony Orchestra, Seiji Ozawa. The vinyl is like new condition and the cover is very good condition. The pieces date from 1929 Charles Ives' Three Places in New England, which was written in the 1900s and 1910s with additional changes added in 1929, 1931 Carl Ruggles' Sun Treader and 1943 Walter Piston's 2nd Symphony and all come from artists with origins in New England. I found only two of the tracks truly successful. The Three Places in New England Orchestral Set No. 1 is a composition for orchestra in three movements by American composer Charles Ives. It was written mainly between 1911 and 1914, but with sketches dating as far back as 1903 and last revisions made in 1929. The work is celebrated for its use of musical quotation and paraphrasing. The movements in Ives's preferred slow-fast-slow sequence, longest first and shortest last are: The St. Gaudens in Boston Common Col. Shaw and his Colored Regiment. Where Ives is evocative, Carl Ruggles is decidedly more abstract and harder to pin down. Yet Sun-Treader is a bold work of great ingenuity, and its stark sonorities and driving force put it among the most striking modernist works of the century. Walter Piston's Symphony No. 2 is unabashedly tonal and typical of the open, populist style employed by Piston's contemporaries Aaron Copland and Roy Harris. Michael Tilson Thomas, Boston Symphony Orchestra This recording has been issued in at least three incarnations on compact disc: DG Originals 463 633-2, coupled with Ruggles' Sun Treader and Walter Piston's Symphony No. It also includes Sun Treader, an outstanding recording of Ruggles' seminal work, and Piston's Second Symphony, which I have never heard. The Twentieth Century Classics release includes Ives' Symphony No. 4 conducted by Seiji Ozawa. Ozawa's reading of the symphony is not a top recommendation-although I don't find it as bad as some others have suggested.
