Iberia and the excerpts from La Vida Breve were recorded on April 21, 1957, and were originally released as SR90007, Smetana's excerpts from The Bartered Bride were recorded on April 6, 1958, and first released in a 2-LP set, SR2-9007, The Smetana, Albénz, and Falla were recorded with one 201 and two M56 Telefunken microphones. The Prelude and Dance of the Persian Slaves from Moussorgsky's Khovanschina were recorded on April 21, 1959, and released first on SR90217. Three 201 microphones were used to make the recordings. All sessions were held in Northrop Auditorium in Minneapolis and the performances recorded on half-inch three-track tape machines.
