Info

Lightning Strikes is a studio album by American rapper Aceyalone. It was released on Decon in 2007. The production is handled by Bionik. Nate Patrin of Pitchfork gave the album a 5. 5 out of 10, saying, The problem is that, even with Aceyalone's lyrical style toned down a little, the attempted merging of underground rap and pop-reggae makes Lightning Strikes sort of a mess, even if it's the kind of mess where half the tracks are fairly likable. Scott Thill of XLR8R gave the album a 7 out of 10. His thoughtful ruminations are a world away from the knee-jerk violence of many of his contemporaries, owing more to early-1970s era Gil Scott-Heron and the innovative, politically aware diatribes of . Aceyalone laces his incisive flow with infectious dancehall rhythms and a smoothly commercial production courtesy of the reggae producer Bionik. Album 2007 15 Songs. More By Aceyalone. Shem
Aceyalone going Dancehall?

I was uncertain at first whether one of my favorite Mc's would still sound good over beats that were not produced by, let us say, RJD2. But if you like Dancehall, and I most certainly do, then you should also enjoy Aceyalone's experiment with this music genre. The riddims are really good; especially if compared to the most recent dancehall releases...
